Hot Springs Honored

Hot Springs Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director George Kotti, left, announced to the public on January 13, 2009, that Hot Springs has been selected as one of a Dozen Distinctive Destinations by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Here he presents the plaque to Hot Springs Mayor Don DeVries, center. With them, right, is President of the local historic preservation society, Adam Heath, owner of Shaman Gallery.

Hot Springs named a 2009 Distinctive Destination.

"The National Trust for Historic Preservation named Hot Springs, South Dakota one of its 2009 Dozen Distinctive Destinations. Since 2000, the National Trust for Historic Preservation has annually selected communities across the United States that offer cultural and recreational experiences different from the typical vacation destination. From dynamic downtowns and stunning architecture to cultural diversity and commitment to historic preservation, the selected destinations boast a richness of character and exude an authentic sense of place."
